This item perfectly represents the duality of spinning tops: while rotating with high speed for several minutes it appears to stand perfectly still - the spinning top "sleeps". It gets the ability to run the "long distance" from its heavy disc of brass in the middle of the body. The rest of the body is made of blackwood.
To set the spinning top in motion you pull the string with a strong jerk. Immediately after you also remove the stick in the middle so just the body will remain silently turning on the spot.
This spinning top is individually crafted by hand by the German artist Christoff Guttermann. Delivery includes a container made of blackened beech wood.
