Tectus – Original Construction Game by Naef, made of Wood
Tectus lets us playfully experience the geometric and artistic principle of the Golden Ratio. For the white wooden blocks – sanded to an accuracy of one tenth of a millimeter – a cube was cut into several pieces according to the principle of the Golden Ratio. The black panels enclose this cube. Instinctively, one begins to experiment architecturally with these building blocks. Fascinating constructions of ever new shapes are created, which always have a peculiar beauty, because the deep geometric harmony of the Golden Ratio is found in every conceivable arrangement of the individual parts.
In mathematics, two quantities are in the golden ratio if their ratio is the same as the ratio of their sum to the larger of the two quantities.
Another Naef game that follows the Golden Ratio is Modulon – see below.
The fascinating structures are possible thanks to the precise workmanship of the wooden building blocks. Naef toys are handcrafted in small numbers and undergo a level of care rarely found with other manufacturers when it comes to cutting and hand-sanding the wood, which comes from sustainable Central European timber farming. The exactness of the angles and planes allows us to experience the beauty of geometry in a satisfying way that we are denied with lesser quality materials and fabrications.
The sensual impression of a Naef game is also strongly contributed to by the carefully matched colors, which are applied in the form of premium lacquer. This is free of harmful substances so that Naef games are absolutely safe for children.
In addition to the company's founder Kurt Naef, the designs come from other well-known designers, primarily from the German-speaking and Japanese regions.
Naef, a traditional manufacturer based in Switzerland, has its construction games produced in a Bavarian craftsman's workshop. Here, quality takes precedence over quantity, which is why some games are only available about once a year and then quickly go out of stock. We try to keep as many games as possible in stock. You are welcome to reserve out-of-stock games and we will let you know as soon as a new edition is available.
The game comes in a nice white box and is therefore also perfect as a gift.
