Coilgun (Gauss Rifle) with Neodymium Magnets

The Gaussian cannon – manufactured by our spinning top artist Christoff Guttermann – consists of a launcher and a goal made of wood as well as two steel balls and two strong neodymium magnetic balls. The cannon uses magnetic force for the strong acceleration of a steel ball, which thus gets a quite impressive firing force (please also note the age information below).

The operating principle: At the front end of the ramp there are two steel balls and one magnetic ball. If you let the second magnetic ball roll down the ramp from behind, it hits the first magnetic ball with a powerful impact, due to the acceleration which the magnetic force causes. The impulse also affects the front steel ball which is shot shot away from the ramp and into the supplied goal (if you have targeted well).

The game is a nice skill exercise as well as a fun experiment with the laws of nature. It comes assembled in a gift box made of cardboard.

ATTENTION: This toy is not suitable for children under 6 years and should be used only under supervision by children under 12 years. There is a hazard to life for small children due to small parts and risk of injury due to strong magnets. A life-threatening hazard also exists for persons with a pacemaker. The included neodymium magnets may cause damage to magnet-sensitive objects such as ec- and credit cards, data storages, monitors and televisions.
The chrome surface of the balls can partially peel off in a strong impact; this does not affect the function.
Please never aim at humans or animals with the Gaussian cannon!
