Kurt Naef, a furniture maker from Switzerland, developed the special wooden building blocks for this game aside his main job. His clientele got the game as a little extra for the kids when they bought a piece of furniture. Over time, it became clear that the Naef game would have more fans than the furniture, and so the Naef brand was born in the mid-20th century, which after an interim takeover by investors, is today back in Naef familiy's ownership.
Why the original Naef game was so successful, you understand as soon as you pick it up. The playful examination of the twisted blocks requires no prompting or instruction for any age group. Intuitively, we try things out, stacking, combining, arranging, and inventing ever new figures and sculptures that carry, intertwine, and balance each other.

The fascinating structures are possible thanks to the precise workmanship of the wooden building blocks. Naef toys are handcrafted in small numbers and undergo a level of care rarely found with other manufacturers when it comes to cutting and hand-sanding the wood, which comes from sustainable Central European timber farming. The exactness of the angles and planes allows us to experience the beauty of geometry in a satisfying way that we are denied with lesser quality materials and fabrications.
The sensual impression of a Naef game is also strongly contributed to by the carefully matched colors, which are applied in the form of premium lacquer. This is free of harmful substances so that Naef games are absolutely safe for children.

Naef, a traditional manufacturer based in Switzerland, has its construction games produced in a Bavarian craftsman's workshop. Here, quality takes precedence over quantity, which is why some games are only available about once a year and then quickly go out of stock. We try to keep as many games as possible in stock.
