Transcience is the topic here: When water is applied to the Buddha Board with a brush, the strokes will turn from grey to a rich dark black within a second. The sketch stays visible until the water has evaporated which usually takes between two and four minutes. After that the Buddha Board is back to empty. This technique is called water calligraphy and has a long standing tradition in China.
The board can be lying flat on the table or put upright in the included stand which also serves as a water bowl. The brush is also included.
