Like all of Flensted's "Science Fiction" mobiles, this one consists of plain yet thoughtfully arranged concentric rings which overlap each other while rotating to form flowing shapes of gemometric beauty. A golden painted wooden ball forms the center and stability anchor of the mobile, which reminds of a solar system as well as an atomic structure.
In its upright arrangement, this mobile is suitable for hanging in a corner or near a wall. Like all mobiles, it should not be exposed to a strong breeze, so as not to hit the wall.
The Mobile "Science Fiction" is a mid-century classic from 1955 by Christian Flensted and was revived in 2017 by German designer Johannes Lindner.
The Danish third generation family business Flensted manufactures artful mobiles with Scandinavian charm, relying on the home-based work of residents of the island of Funen.
