These four excellently crafted nesting tables are an original design by Josef Albers (1888 – 1976). The German artist worked in various capacities at the Bauhaus in Weimar from 1920 until he fled from the Nazis in 1933 and was head of the furniture workshop there from 1928. In exile, Albers became a formative figure for US-American concrete art and Op Art. In 1971, the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art honoured him as the first living artist with a retrospective.
The interlocking side tables combine their Bauhaus-typical clear geometry and funtionality with the fresh grace of vivid colours.
Each table has an inlaid tabletop made of specially imported Italian glass, which is lacquered in colour on the underside. The tables are made from oak and beech wood in a craftsman's workshop in the Erzgebirge, Germany, according to the highest quality standards.
