This sundial comes in the form of a simple plate of birch plywood from which a true marvel of astronomy and engineering unfolds. Following the detailed illustrated instructions, the components of the clock can be detached and assembled. The sundial is precisely set to a specific location, such as your home, and then always displays the time and date based on the position of the sun, as well as the current peak of the midday sun on the integrated world map.
You don't have to be an engineer to assemble this sundial. All you need is a small file or some sandpaper to clean the broken edges and some glue suitable for wood. You also need to know the geographical position of where you live. Wikipedia, for example, can help with this. With these materials and information, the inclination of the sundial can be precisely aligned with the North Star, hence the name Polaris.
Note: This sundial is suitable for all locations worldwide that lie in the latitude range between 64°S and 64°N.
The sundial is made in Germany from high-quality birch plywood, which is also used for model aircraft. The components are precisely cut and printed.
In its flat packaging, the sundial is also a perfect gift.
This sundial was developed by engineer Carlo Heller who began to learn astronomy and design sundials as a young schoolboy. As a mechanical engineer, he was later able to produce sundials with minute-accurate readings using laser manufacturing processes and optical measuring technology. His sundials are not gimmicks, but highly competent reinterpretations of an ancient cultural technique of timekeeping. Some of his models have been presented to foreign guests of state of Germany many times as a demonstration of skillful German engineering. The sundials are manufactured exclusively in Germany.
