Fascinating handmade wool felt rugs by artist Joanna Rusin - for children and adults

We have always known natural wool felt as a source of warmth and cosiness, but we haven't associated it with exciting design  - until we came across the carpet collection of Polish textile artist Joanna Rusin. Her playful, creative and skillfull approach to the compacted sheep wool inspires children and adults alike. She turns the material into fascinating plays with color and shape, which haven't only convinced us, but many committees and curators of prices and exhibitions.

About the artist

Joanna Rusin handmade design carpetsJoanna Rusin studied textile art and fashion design at the University of the Arts in Lodz and graduated in 2002 with honors. Since then she has been working for large textile manufacturers, but in 2004 she also founded her own studio. In addition to individual projects and commissions for galleries, cultural institutions and interior designers, she maintains her own collection of wool felt rugs for both children and adults. Her style is an unconventional approach which invites the direct and sensual experience of the object, using mostly traditional manufacturing techniques.

Joanna Rusin's works can be found in several museums, including the National Museum in Warsaw and the Museum of Art and Design in Riga. In addition to numerous art awards, she also won several awards for outstanding children's toys, with which their play carpets are honored. It exhibits continuously worldwide, so far together with European cities and others. in Beijing, Rio de Janeiro, Soul or Jakarta.

Joanna Rusin's carpets are handcrafted to order in her Polish studio.
