Tall Design Floor / Table Light with Natural Birch Bark Shade Ø 15 cm

This hanging light combines classic-modern lamp design with the organic look of naturally grown Siberian birch bark. The velvety-soft but very robust natural material unfolds its pleasant effect when the lamp is switched on or off. The shade has individual grains and growth marks which make each lamp unique. The birch bark is fixed with a traditional connection technique which does not require any glue.

The lamp can be used in many places in the house, either on the floor or standing on a base / pedestal / nightstand, etc.. Unlike the identical pendant lamp, this lamp comes with a plug.

The lampshade is offered in three design versions all of which provide discreet, glare-free lateral radiation:

Scales: shade with horizontal scale-like cutouts.
Slits: shade with oblique slit-like cutouts
Cross-Slits: shade with oblique cross-slitted cutouts

The pendant luminaire is designed for indoor use with standard LED bulbs.

Information about the birch bark used

The birch bark comes from Tomsk in Siberia, where due to the climate the birch trees form a much thicker and stronger bark than in Central Europe, and where its harvesting and processing has a tradition of craftsmanship that goes back thousands of years. The top layer of bark is carefully removed from the trees once a year. This layer grows back, the tree is not seriously damaged and continues to live. It is not necessary to cut the trees.

Mainly the inner layers of the bark are used, which is why the finished products have a natural light brown color and not the typical white color.

Further manual processing of the bark material is done by local Siberian craftsmen.

The birch bark is non-allergenic and therefore not a problem for birch pollen allergy sufferers.

The surface of the bark is naturally water and dirt repellent and can therefore be cleaned with a damp cloth. It does not otherwise require any special care, even in the long term, provided that it is not exposed to extreme heat or cold.
